Whiskey Hayride performing Saturday Aug. 22,at 7:00pm, at Farnsworth Park, in Altadena   Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena presents Concerts in the Park.  Whiskey Hayride will be performing Saturday August 22, 2015 at 7:00pm.  Join us for the FREE concert at Farnsworth Park, located at 586 Mount Curve Ave., Altadena 91001.     WHISKEY HAYRIDE COUNTRY and CLASSIC ROCK   Whiskey Hayride is a top-notch country and classic rock band known for impressive instrumental skills and superb vocal harmonies. The careers of its members intertwine over years and decades, and although Whiskey Hayride was formed only recently in 2013, the band has already played a number of high-profile events and venues, including the world premiere of the Trace Adkins movie, "The Virginian." As a group, Whiskey Hayride’s players offer a long list of collective credits, having performed with or opened for many well-known artists. Various Whiskey players have also been involved in a litany of local and road bands including Daze of Blue, Riders of the Purple Sage, Sedona, Red Simpson, The Showmen, Big Jay McNeely, Blades of Grass, Live Oak, Spectrum, Bonita Shortline, Northern Lights, and Squeeze Play. Like the others in the group, Whiskey Hayride founder Mike Johnson (guitar and vocals) has played music most of his life. Musical cohort Bill Stapley (bass and vocals) is a seasoned road musician who won several coveted awards while earning his degree at Cerritos College. Steve Learned (guitar and vocals) has played hundreds of venues and worked with many well-known artists including Bill Medley. Steve Swartout (drums) has performed across the US and on USO tours abroad, and contributed to several film projects including 7th Heaven and Relative Strangers. Community: Back to School Safety Tips from Altadena Sheriff's Station.   The Altadena Sheriff’s Station would like to remind you of some very important tips to keep your children safe as they head back to school this week. If your kids walk to school, you should walk the school route along with them to make sure it is safe or to make sure the route is well known to each child. If you can’t walk with your kids, encourage the kids to walk with a friend. Encourage your kids to be observant as they walk and be aware of their surroundings. If they think they are being followed they should immediately go to a trusted adult and alert them. If they think they are in danger they should yell “Help” or “You Are Not My Mom/Dad” and run to the nearest business or back to school.   Here are some friendly reminders for not only our kids, but everyone driving during the school year: Pedestrians Always walk on the sidewalk  Cross at the corner or crosswalk (no jaywalking) Stop before you cross, look both ways when you cross the street  Never cross or enter the street from in between cars Obey all traffic signs and lights   Bicyclists, Skateboarders, Scooters All bicyclists should wear properly fitted bicycle helmets every time they ride Anyone under 18 who uses a skateboard, bicycle, non-motorized scooter, rollerblades, and roller skates are required to wear a helmet at all times. Ride your bicycle in the same direction as other vehicles Always pay attention. Do not use your cell phone while you bike Obey all signs and signals    Motorists Expect children walking, biking, skateboarding, or riding scooters Always pay attention, give at least three-feet clearance space to bicyclists Slow down in all school zones Obey School Bus signals (red lights flashing means stop) Stay focused, do not drive distracted. Community: #LASD Altadena Station's Crime Blotter for the week of July 19, 2015   Sunday, July 19th 3:30 AM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 100 block of East Las Flores Drive.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the driver’s side window.  Stolen was a black tool bag containing safety equipment. 9:30 AM – Carolyn Jackson, 39 years old of Monrovia, was arrested in the 2000 block of North Marengo Avenue for criminal threats and brandishing a weapon (knife). Monday, July 20th 9:00 AM – A residential vandalism occurred in the 2300 block of Garfield Avenue.   Suspect(s) used a key to tamper with the keyhole.  No entry was made. 2:00 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2200 block of East Crary Street.  Vehicle stolen described as: silver 2004 Mercedes SL55 AMG 2-door.  Vehicle was recovered by El Monte Police Department. 3:15 PM – A package theft occurred in the 400 block of West Las Flores Drive.  Suspect described as female, Hispanic or Middle Eastern in a white Ford Explorer.  Stolen was a pair of shoes and a vinyl record. Tuesday, July 21st 3:00 PM – A grand theft incident occurred at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1014 Altadena Drive.  Stolen was a brass water regulator. 6:03 PM – Iberville Beard, 40 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 500 block of West Figueroa Drive for violation of a restraining order. 7:32 PM – Richard Hinojosa, 46 years old of Pasadena, was arrested in the 1400 block of Lincoln Avenue for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 8:00 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 3200 block of Grandeur Avenue.   Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the rear passenger window.  It is unknown what was stolen. Wednesday, July 22nd 5:15 PM – An assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the area of Altadena Drive and Olive Avenue.   Victim stated he was walking on Altadena Drive when he was approached by a known suspect who began chasing the suspect with a wooden stick and demanding his money back.  The suspect struck the victim several times on his arm while trying to run towards his residence.  The investigation is ongoing. Thursday, July 23rd 8:15 AM – A petty theft occurred in the 2700 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Stolen were 8 gray plastic trash cans. Friday, July 24th 1:00 AM – Pedro Orozco, 21 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 400 block of Figueroa Drive for domestic violence. 11:05 AM – A battery incident occurred in the area of Ventura Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.  The victim was directing traffic and a motorist became impatient and began yelling at the victim.  The suspect exited his vehicle and began fighting with the victim.  The suspect then fled westbound on Ventura Street in a green 2000 Jaguar sedan. Saturday, July 25th 12:25 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2100 block of El Sereno Avenue.  The vehicle stolen was described as a blue 1982 Chevrolet Malibu. Tues, Aug 4th - A list of this year's events in Los Angeles County #LASD  On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide, for the 32nd Annual “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world.  More than 35 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 4, 2014. National Night Out is designed to heighten awareness on crime and drug prevention, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. On August 4, 2015, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County and across the nation are being asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and Law Enforcement.  Many neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, and flashlight walks.  Following are the patrol stations that will be involved in various activities in their respective station areas during the evening. Temple Station - City of Rosemead Temple Sheriff Station in partnership with the City of Rosemead’s Public Safety Department is hosting a summer BBQ, sponsored by Target Corporation of Rosemead, to celebrate the 32nd Annual National Night Out. The event is on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the Rosemead Public Safety Center at Zapopan Park (8301 Garvey Avenue, Rosemead). It is a night to celebrate safety, crime prevention, emergency preparedness and back-to-school resources. Rosemead’s National Night Out Celebration will include:  Neighborhood Watch Program Information, Crime Prevention and Safety Tips, “Free” Hot Dogs, Chips, and bottled water provided by Target/Rosemead Store* (while supplies last), Moon Bounce for children.  Raffle Prizes donated by Rosemead Target Store, and other local businesses.
