Monday, March 25th Between 4:00 PM and 9:15 AM (Tuesday) – A residential burglary occurred in the 1300-blk of Rubio St. Loss: crystal/brass chandelier. ***Loss was recovered the same day on the property*** Between 11:30 PM and 8:00 AM (Tuesday) – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 2200-blk of N. Lincoln Av. Loss: black camera tripod. Tuesday, March 26th 12:00 AM – A petty theft occurred in the 2600-blk of Windsor Av. Loss: black Sony DVD portable player. Between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2000-blk of Layton St. Loss: iPad and jewelry. 10:30 PM – A petty theft occurred at the Arco AM/PM, 1880 Lake Av. Loss: (3) lottery tickets, nachos, soda. Between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM (Wednesday) – A commercial burglary occurred at Sacred Heart Church, 2889 N. Lincoln Av. Loss: none. Wednesday, March 27th Between 9:30 PM and 7:00 AM (Thursday) – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 600-blk of Ventura St. Thursday, March 28th 12:05 AM – Suspect Terry Riley, 53 yrs, of Altadena was arrested for possession of stolen property. The property (several bottles of liquor) was identified and returned to the store/owner. Between 8:40 AM and 9:15 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2100-blk of N. Holliston Av. Suspect(s) entered the residence via the unlocked rear door. Loss: laptop in black case, computer monitor, credit card. 4:50 PM – A shoplifting incident occurred in at Rite Aid, 735 E. Altadena Dr. Suspect described as a female, White, 20-25 yrs, 503, 100, brown hair. Loss: Gillette Mach3, iPad portable speakers, 15/5 USB charger, SHT & SHR 64MB memory stick, Maxwell 16GB USB drive, pens. Hikers found! 4/5/2013

Community: Altadena & Sierra Madre Search & Rescue Teams, respond to Eaton Cyn.; missing 5 hikers located.   On April 5, 2013, at 7:00 am, Altadena & Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Teams along with Los Angeles County Sheriff's helicopter Air-5 responded to Eaton Canyon regarding 5 missing hikers that were reported missing from yesterday. Due to thick fog, LASD Air-5 could not locate the hikers. Reserve deputies from the search and rescue teams hiked into the canyon and found all 5 hikers above the second waterfall area of Eaton Canyon. All 5 hikers were not injured and were safe. The search and rescue teams escorted the hikers out of Eaton Canyon without incident. The female adult and 4 adult males were from Santa Ana, Glendale, Cypress and Long Beach. Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team personnel are reserve sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free. There are over 150 members of the eight Search and Rescue teams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who were activated for over 450 search and rescue missions last year, making it one of the most active counties for search and rescue missions in the nation. Lincoln Av. Two armed suspects walked into the location. Suspect #1 male, Black, 6’01, 200 lbs, 25-30 yrs, black ski-mask - Suspect #2 male, black, 5’10, 160 lbs., 25-30 yrs,. After robbing the location, both suspects fled the location via the rear entrance. No further info available. Thursday, March 14th between 11 AM and Friday March 15th: A residential burglary occurred on Pine St. Loss: Samsung TV, DVD Player, and DirecTV Box. *** On 03/15/13 at 5:05 PM, Suspect Brenda Anderson Female/Black, resident of Pasadena, was arrested by Altadena Deputies on Harriett Street for possession of the victim's stolen property. She was booked for under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property (Booking #3494388). Deputies from the Altadena Sheriff’s Station will join more than 100 participating law enforcement agencies across six countries to take to Twitter in an effort to bring attention and understanding to the use of social media by law enforcement. Agencies will tweet using the same hashtag, #poltwt, to create awareness about police work and issues police face, as well as to promote the use of social media and transparency in law enforcement. "We are excited to bring together police agencies around the world in this first of its kind social media event," said Lauri Stevens, founder of LAwS Communications and organizer of the Global Police Tweet-a-thon. "We hope it sends the message to non-law enforcement that their police officers are up to speed with social media and that they should use the channel to talk with police officers and to be stewards of public safety." There are currently more than 100 agencies participating from the U.S., Canada, UK, Sweden, Iceland, and Australia.
