Property Stolen: black Husky tool bag. 9:30 PM – A shooting at an inhabited dwelling occurred in the 2100 block of S. Raymond Avenue. Suspect vehicle described as a dark early 1990’s Honda or Toyota. No injuries. On-going investigation. ... Monday, October 19th 12:00 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2500 block of E. Washington Boulevard. Suspect(s) entered the location via unknown means. Property Stolen: currency. On-going investigation. 9:30 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Devirian Place. Suspect(s) shattered the front door glass panel. No stolen property. On-going investigation. Tuesday, October 20th No significant Incidents Wednesday, October 21st 1:00 AM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 1700 block of E. Atchison Street. Damage: paint scratched. 10:52 PM – Toni Burton, 24 years old of El Monte was arrested in the area of Casitas Avenue and Altadena Drive for possession of a drugs without a prescription. Thursday, October 22nd 4:15 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the area of Mount Lowe Mountain Way and Chaney Trail. Suspect(s) entered the vehicle via unknown means. Property Stolen: black specialized mountain bike, helmet, Garmin GPS, cycling shoes. Community: Captain Christopher Reed departing Altadena Station for Sheriff's Information Bureau, welcomes incoming Captain Vicki Stuckey   Captain Christopher Reed is departing Altadena Station, transferring to Sheriff's Information Bureau, the Sheriff's Department's media headquarters, effective Sunday, October 11, 2015.  Replacing Captain Reed at Altadena Station is Captain Vicki Stuckey, pictured with Captain Reed who gave her a warm welcome to her new command.  Captain Stuckey brings with her more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, most of her time being spent at various patrol stations throughout the County, including Norwalk, Compton, and Lomita Stations. Reflecting on his time at Altadena Station, Captain Reed pointed to several noteworthy achievements by Altadena Station Deputies and his management team during his tenure, including: - Reducing overall Part I crimes by over 18% in 2014 as compared to 2013 - Building on last year's crime reduction, overall Part I crimes have been reduced an additional 17% year to date this year, with a nearly 50% reduction as compared to 5 years ago - Enhancements to Altadena's deployment model, moving away from strictly fielding two-person units on the swing and overnight shifts, adding more one-person units, essentially doubling the cars available on those shifts to handle calls for service, resulting in significant reduction in response times - Establishment of a 4-person Problem Specific Policing Team to deal with long-term issues in the community with an emphasis on proactive enforcement and crime reduction - Expansion of the Reserve Deputy Program, recruiting and adding 7 additional Uniformed Reserve Deputies to the Station's complement who have full peace officer powers and work for the community essentially as volunteers, earning $1 per year - Re-establishment of the Sheriff's Explorer Program, with 9 station explorers, giving local youth an opportunity to volunteer in the community and partner with deputies working special events and participating in ride-a-longs - Significant expansion of our Community Policing Programs, instituting both foot patrols and bicycle patrols in the business corridors of Altadena Captain Reed wishes to express his heartfelt gratitude for all of the community support the station and it's hard-working deputies have received during his tenure.  He is equally thankful for the tremendous support the station has received from the 5th District, Supervisor Michael Antonovich and his staff, as well as the Altadena Town Council, the Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena, and the station's Community Advisory Council. Community: #LASD Altadena Station's Crime Blotter for the week of September 27, 2015   Sunday, September 27th 9:45 PM – Arie Phillips, 43 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 1900 block of N. Grand Oaks Avenue for domestic battery. Monday, September 28th 11:00 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1900 block of Braeburn Road.  Suspects entered the residence by shattering the rear glass door.  Suspects described as two males, both white, driving a white newer model Toyota or Honda 2-door sedan.  Property stolen:  unknown.  7:30 PM – Hector Alarcon, 34 years old of Pasadena, was arrested in the 100 block of E. Woodbury Road for domestic battery. Tuesday, September 29th 8:00 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 400 block of Wapello Street.   Suspect(s) entered the residence by removing the window screen.  Property stolen:  gray MacBook Air, Canon 50D camera, Contak G2 camera. 11:00 AM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2200 block of N. Lake Avenue.  Property stolen:  handicap placard. 4:30 PM – Orlando Salazar, 30 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 300 block of W. Woodbury Road for domestic battery. Wednesday, September 30th 7:37AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Stonehurst Drive.  Suspects entered the residence by shattering the rear window.  Property stolen:  firearms.  Detectives are following up on significant leads in this case. 11:57 AM – A battery occurred at the Altadena Laundromat, 355 E. Woodbury Road.  The victim was cleaning the dryer and without provocation, the suspect punched the victim in the face.  The suspect then ran out of the location but was subsequently located by deputies and taken into custody.  Thursday, October 1st 9:03 PM – Stephen Ross, 60 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 2600 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue for domestic battery. Friday, October 2nd  No significant incidents to report. Saturday, October 3rd No significant incidents to report. LA SHERIFF SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL SWIFT WATER RESCUES DURING POSSIBLE RAINY EL NIÑO" SEASON

Community: LA SHERIFF SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL SWIFT WATER RESCUES DURING POSSIBLE RAINY EL NIÑO" SEASON , The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s 8 search-and-rescue (SAR) teams are training and planning for the anticipated El Nino storms predicted for L.A. County.  Last weekend 36 SAR specialists trained for swift-water rescue response.  The focus was land-based operations which primarily deal with how to rescue a victim safely out of a fast flowing river or channel without having to enter the water.  Upcoming future training will certify these SAR team members as Swift-water Rescue Technicians.  Many current SAR team members already possess this certification, which deals with how to rescue a person trapped in a river or channel by entering the water and making contact with them.  Swift-water rescue responses are the highest level of risk to the public safety agencies who respond.  One-third of all swift-water deaths are rescuers who attempt to save someone from a river or channel.   The 8 SAR teams consist of team members who live in the immediate area and they will be pre-identifying likely areas prone to flooding.  They will coordinate with our public safety partner agencies who are stakeholders in flood responses.  Once identified, the teams will pre-plan rescue sites for those areas including the identification of possible hazards. SAR teams work closely with LASD’s Special Enforcement Bureau Emergency Services Detail (SEB/ESD), a highly trained and multi-mission bureau which staffs Air Rescue 5, the premier helicopter rescue platform. SEB/ESD deputies operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to their tactical operations, all SEB/ESD deputies are certified paramedics and rescue divers. SEB/ESD is responsible for coordinating and participating in mountain search and rescue, underwater search and rescue, and swift water and flood rescue operations for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. They staff the Air-5 Rescue Helicopter, the SEB/ESD Ocean Rescue Boats, and are Special Weapons Team members.  Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team members are Reserve Sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free. There are 200 members of the eight Search and Rescue teams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. They are all Emergency Medical Technicians and certified mountaineers.  These rescuers were activated for 597 search and rescue missions last year, making it one of the most active counties for search and rescue missions in the nation. Community: #LASD Altadena Station's Crime Blotter for the week of September 20, 2015   Sunday, September 20th 12:35 AM – Alexander Kenny, 25 years old of Concord, Ca., was arrested at Lincoln Avenue and Figueroa Drive for being drunk in public. 6:08 PM – Rodolfo Montoya, 23 years old of Altadena, was arrested at Olive Avenue and Figueroa Drive for possession of a controlled substance. 6:13 PM – An assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) occurred in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Figueroa Drive.   The suspect shot at a group of males who were exiting a liquor store.  One of the males was struck by the gunfire and sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is ongoing. 7:30 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 100 block of Manor Street.  The victim’s tires were slashed. Monday, September 21st No significant incidents to report Tuesday, September 22nd No significant incidents to report Wednesday, September 23rd 10:00 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Mar Vista Avenue.  The suspect(s) entered the residence via an unsecured window.  Property stolen: A checkbook belonging to the victim.  3:57 PM – An aggravated assault occurred at McDonald’s, 2157 N. Lincoln Avenue.  The suspects approached the victim and began punching and kicking her.  The suspects were located and taken into custody. Thursday, September 24th 1:30 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3300 block of Rubio Crest Drive.  The suspect(s) entered the residence by prying the rear door.  Workable information was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.  Property stolen: Tan Sentry safe and a black magnetic key box.  9:30 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1800 block of N. Craig Avenue.  Property stolen:  Gold Ray Ban sunglasses, gray Garmin GPS, yellow flashlight, and currency. Friday, September 25th 5:00 PM – A vehicle tampering incident occurred at 24 Hr. Fitness, 2180 Lincoln Avenue.  The driver’s side door handle and lock were broken. 8:00 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred at 24 Hr. Fitness, 2180 Lincoln Avenue.  The suspects(s) entered the vehicle by tampering with the door handle.  Property stolen:  Credit card and currency. Saturday, September 26th 11:00 AM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the area of Chaney Trail Road and Brown Mountain Road.  The suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the passenger window.  Property stolen: Bicycle spokes, Oakley googles, and bicycle tools. 12:30 PM – A residential vandalism occurred in the 2200 block of Casitas Avenue.  The victim’s window was shattered with an unknown object.  5:40 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of W. Community: #LASA Altadena Station's Crime Blotter for the week of September 13, 2015   Sunday, September 13th 7:32 AM – Stephanie Jenkins, 65 years old of Altadena, was arrested at Walmart, 2408 Lincoln Avenue for shoplifting. 7:35 PM – Rodolfo Montoya, 23 years old  of Altadena, was arrested in the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue for possession of a controlled substance. Monday, September 14th 4:12 AM – Gewo Khachadoorian, 24 years old of Pasadena, was arrested in the 1400 block of N. Hill Avenue for possession of a controlled substance. 6:26 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 3100 block of Casitas Avenue.  The vehicle stolen was a 1995 Honda Civic.  Still outstanding. 7:00 PM – Joshua Muema-Washington, 20 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Wyoming Street for possession of burglary tools. Tuesday, September 15th 12:20 PM – Lando King, 31 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 2300 block of Grandeur Avenue for violation of a court order. 2:52 PM – Zuri Ordonez, 20 years old of Altadena, was arrested for violating a court order in the 100 block of E. Altadena Drive.  He was additionally charged with battery on a Peace Officer after spitting on arresting deputies during the booking process. 7:29 PM – Mukri Ordonez, 18 years old of Altadena, was arrested in the 100 block of E. Altadena Drive for attempt carjacking.  The victim and her children were sitting in the vehicle when the suspect began banging on the driver’s side window demanding the vehicle.  The victim, fearing for her safety, fled the area.  Shortly after the incident, deputies located the suspect and took him into custody. Wednesday, September 16th 4:00 PM – Freddy Serrano, 29 years old of Azusa, was arrested in the 1900 block of Raymond Avenue for possession of a controlled substance for sales. 4:00 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred at the “MintLeaf”, 2535 E. Washington Blvd.  The suspect entered the vehicle by shattering the driver’s window.  Property stolen was a Mac Air laptop, a backpack, credit cards, and currency. Thursday, September 17th 12:45 PM – A battery occurred at McDonald’s, 2157 Lincoln Avenue.  The suspect entered the business and demanded food.  After the victim refused to give the suspect free food, he became irate, and struck the victim with his fist.  The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 5’ 4” tall, 140 lbs., wearing no shirt, gray shorts, and black sneakers.  The suspect had a “P” tattooed on his torso and a “Skull” in his abdomen.  The investigation is ongoing.  Friday, September 18th 5:45 PM – Brian Conley, 52 years old of Pasadena, was arrested in the area of Calaveras Street and Fair Oaks Avenue for domestic violence. 6:40 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Taos Road.  The suspect entered the residence by shattering a window.  The victim followed the suspect until deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody.  A passport and money belonging to the victim were recovered. Saturday, September 19th 5:31 PM – Robert Ashmore, 25 years old of Pasadena, was arrested in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Idaho Street for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
