Please stop by for a cup of great coffee, or just to say hello. We will be there to answer any questions about policing in our community, crime trends and prevention.
There is also time to help out with our toy and food drive, we are accepting donations until December 16th.

Community: Altadena Crime blotter for the week ending Saturday, November 21st   Sunday, November 15th 1:30 PM – Dustin Warner, 30 years old transient was arrested at Rite Aid, 735 E. Altadena Drive for petty theft. 2:00 PM – A petty theft occurred at Walmart, 2408 Lincoln Avenue.  Suspect described as a female Black, wearing a gray beanie, green sweater, grey sweatpants, and dark boots. The suspect exited the store and entered a silver Dodge Nitro occupied by another female, Black.  Property Stolen: miscellaneous items. 2:36 PM – Victor Chavez, 40 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 3100 block of Via Madera Street for assault with a deadly weapon. 8:00 PM – A theft of mail occurred in the 2700 block of Santa Anita Avenue.  Property Stolen:  letter containing personal check. Monday, November 16th 3:42 PM – A package theft occurred in the 2600 block of Windsor Avenue.  Suspect described as a male White, in a red 1993 Infiniti sedan.  Property Stolen: package containing power switch, Samsung Galaxy cellphone, and adaptor. 5:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 1700 block of Sierra Bonita Avenue.  Property Damaged: vehicles dented, window shattered. 9:54 PM – A grand theft occurred at 7 Eleven, 1319 N. Altadena Drive.  Suspect described as male, Black.  Property Stolen:  cashier tablet. Tuesday, November 17th 2:50 AM – Johnny Moreno, 19 years old from Altadena was arrested in the area of Loma Alta Drive and Lake Avenue for driving a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Beverly Hills. 10:45 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2300 block of Grandeur Avenue.  Stolen vehicle: green 1994 Honda Accord, which is still outstanding.  10:30 PM – Miguel Castadena, 20 years old from Commerce was arrested in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Figueroa Drive for driving a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Beverly Hills. Wednesday, November 18th 12:02 AM – Glenn Johnson, 49 years old of Sunland was arrested in the area of Lake Avenue and Altadena Drive for public intoxication. 11:47 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1400 block of N. Roosevelt Avenue.  The suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the bedroom window.  Loss: unknown.  On-going investigation.  12:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of East Loma Alta Drive.  The suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the rear window.  Loss: unknown.  On-going investigation.   Thursday, November 19th 11:48 PM – A shoplifting incident occurred at Ralph’s, 2270 N. Sacramento Street.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by prying the garage door.  Stolen:  ladders, yellow Dewalt drills, paint buckets.    Monday, November 9th   11:15 AM – A package theft occurred in the 1000 block of Marcheta Street.  Stolen:  package containing cat food, ant spray, face cream.  6:04 PM – A package theft occurred in the 2000 block of Pepper Drive.  Stolen: package containing clothing.  7:40 PM – Hiram Cormier, 38 years old of Pasadena was arrested at Walmart, 2408 Lincoln Avenue for possession of a controlled substance and shoplifting.  10:00 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1700 block of Coolidge Avenue.  Stolen: GMC key fob.   Tuesday, November 10th   5:00 PM – A boat was reported stolen from the 2400 block of N. Loma Alta Drive for criminal threats and trespassing.    Wednesday, November 11th   2:26 AM – Tioni Ward, 23 years old from Altadena was arrested in the area of Sacramento Street and Santa Anita Avenue for public intoxication.    Thursday, November 12th   6:05 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2900 block of Sterling Place.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the kitchen window.  Stolen: jewelry, jewelry box, passports, and vehicle registration.    Friday, November 13th   3:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3000 block of Via Madera Street.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by prying the living room window.  Stolen: LG television, 2005 Buick LaCrosse sedan, car keys.   Saturday, November 14th   4:20 PM – Felissa Alzaga, 20 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the 1600 block of N. Community: Package Theft Prevention Tips for Home Deliveries   It is that time of year when many people are having gifts and packages delivered, please take a few steps to help prevent such thefts. Package Theft Prevention Tips If you have ever ordered items online chances are those items were delivered straight to your home. Most deliveries DO NOT require a signature and are generally left at your front door even if no one is home to accept them.These pa...ckages, which quickly catch the eye of potential thieves, offer criminals that ‘Crime of Opportunity” they are looking for. Thieves looking to steal your packages will follow or watch for UPS, Fed Ex, US Mail, and other delivery service trucks so they can target your home after the parcels are delivered. Below are some “Package Theft Prevention Tips” for you to use which will help reduce your chances of becoming a victim of this crime. If Possible: • Ask for a tracking number. Most major shipping companies offer this service at no charge. This number allows you to track your packages and notifies you when they will be delivered. • Request a “Signature Delivery Option”. This requires a signature when the packages are delivered and ensures they will not be left at the front door. • For high dollar items, pay extra to insure the package. • Request a specific drop off time and date when you will be home to accept your packages. • Arrange to have your packages held at the shipping service so you can pick them up. • Ask the delivery service to leave your packages at a side or back door. An enclosed porch where packages are out of sight is also a good option. • Have your packages delivered to your workplace. • Have your packages delivered to the home of a relative or neighbor who will be there to accept them • Ask to have your packages delivered to a retail store so you can pick them up at your convenience • Ask a trustworthy neighbor to keep a “Watchful Eye” out for you packages. If they’re willing, ask them to safeguard your packages until you return home • Leave a note for the carrier instructing them where to leave your packages (Ex: backdoor) • If your packages do not arrive as scheduled contact the sender immediately. What Should You Do If You See Packages Being Stolen In Your Neighborhood? 1. Call 911 immediately! Tell the call taker you are reporting a “Crime in Progress” 2. Tell the 911 operator an accurate description of the suspect(s) and any vehicles that may be used. 10 Steps to prevent Vehicle and Residential Burglary 1. Lock all vehicle doors 2. Don't leave anything on your seats or floorboards 3. Park your vehicle in the garage 4. Use car alarms and leave your windows rolled up 5. Install motion detector lights in the front/back of your house 6. Use your porch light and peephole for the front door 7. Obtain a security system or a watch dog 8. Secure doors and window with heavy-duty locks and bolts 9. Communicate with your neighbors, they are your eyes and ears 10. Community: Sheriff McDonnell Receives Educational Toy Donations from Senator Bob Huff, On Behalf of 999 for Kids   Sheriff McDonnell Receives Educational Toy Donations from Senator Bob Huff, On Behalf of 999 for Kids Senator Bob Huff, 29th Senate District, brought the holiday season with him a little early when he visited Sheriff Jim McDonnell at the Hall of Justice today, to present a donation of educational gaming toys for the 999 for Kids program. It was on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in an historical Art Deco-era jury deliberation room transformed into meeting room, that Sheriff McDonnell; Captain Roosevelt Johnson, Chairperson, 999 for Kids Program; James F. Normandin, President, Memorial Medical Center Foundation; Dr. Charles Sophy, Department of Children and Family Services; and retired LASD Commander, Pete Amico, a former 999 for Kids Committee Chairman and hospital volunteer, accepted eight LeapFrog® Brand LeapPad3® Learning Tablets and seven LeapFrog® Brand LeapTV® Educational Gaming Systems, on behalf of the 999 for Kids program.  The premier toys came with game cartridges and carrier bags, and are valued at $4,500.  The LeapFrog® Brand is a well-known, large producer of electronic educational products for children.   Sheriff Jim McDonnell said “These toys are received not just with the holiday season in mind, but with the futures of numerous children whose lives will be enriched from their experiences with them.  Senator Huff , on behalf of the 999 for Kids program thank you  for providing these incredible learning tools which offer the benefit of development and learning in a fun package.” The toys were generously donated by Senator Huff and The Purist Group as part of an early kick-off campaign to their 2015 holiday toy drive, and to ensure more toys are made available to children in need in the areas Senator Huff represents.  Senator Huff is involved in early childhood education to give local youth a future advantage. One portion of the toys will be donated to select, medically-fragile children participating in the 999 for Kids program through the Department of Children and Family Services – Medical Placement Unit, and the other portion will be donated to Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach – 999 For Kids Program room.  The educational and social development benefits will become exponential, knowing these children will share their toys with countless other children. “These toys will help the Sheriff’s Department as they work to steer at-risk kids away from crime so they can become responsible and healthy adults,” said Senator Huff. “I’m proud of the work they do with these children and I’m pleased that I can help out in any way that I can.” Esperanza Gonzalez, Department of Children and Family Services; and Carrie Schreiner, Child Life Specialist, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital, Long Beach, who are both directly involved with the children of their respective agencies, offered insight of how well the toys will delight the kids and promote their interest in learning. The 999 for Kids program was created in 1985 through a joint effort of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the County’s Department of Children and Family Services. The two county agencies began working together after they recognized a need to help physically and mentally challenged children who are medically vulnerable or are victims of the most severe cases of child abuse, neglect and family violence. The program raises money to purchase special items and services for these children, including sport wheelchairs, computers, special education classes, and medically-oriented toys and games. The funds send children to summer camps for the deaf, blind and those with other medical issues who would not otherwise have such positive experiences. Crime Blotter for the week ending October 31st.

Community: Crime Blotter for the week ending October 31st.   Sunday, October 25th 11:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 500 block of E. Mendocino Street.  The cars window was shattered. Monday, October 26th 3:30 PM – A robbery occurred at Walmart, 2408 Lincoln Avenue.  The suspect was a male, Black, 30 years old, who exited the business without paying for the items in the shopping cart.  The loss prevention contacted the suspect and a struggle ensued.  The suspect then entered a gray Honda Accord and fled the area.  The suspect has been identified. 8:15 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2100 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue.  A Pomeranian dog was stolen. 8:25 PM – Charles Davis, 47 years old, of Altadena was arrested in the area of Altadena Drive and Lake Avenue for reckless driving. Tuesday, October 27th 2:10 AM – A robbery occurred at 7-Eleven, 1319 N. Altadena Drive.  The suspect John Herrick, 53 years old, of Altadena was taken into custody. 4:00 PM – An attempt residential burglary occurred in the 2600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue.  The window was shattered and there were pry marks on the door, but no entry was made. 6:43 PM – A shooting occurred in the 300 block of W. Altadena Drive.  The suspects were described as (2) male, Blacks, in a black Lincoln sedan.  The victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is on-going. Wednesday, October 28th 12:05 PM – A petty theft occurred at the Super King, 2260 Lincoln Avenue.  The subject was a male, White, juvenile and was taken into custody for trying to steal whiskey. 4:40 PM – A petty theft occurred at the Super King, 2260 Lincoln Avenue.  The subject was a female, Black, juvenile and was taken into custody for trying to steal tequila. 9:30 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 2300 block of El Sereno Avenue.  The car windshield was shattered. Thursday, October 29th 8:15 PM – An assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle) occurred in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Alberta Street.  The suspects were described as (2) male, Hispanics, in a dark colored van.  The investigation is on-going. Friday, October 30th  4:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 400 block of Wapello Street.  The suspects broke the lock on the door and stole linens. 4:30 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1200 block of E. Mendocino Street.  The suspect(s) broke through the rear door and stole a safe, along with a firearms, keys, and documents.
