Community: Thefts from unlock vehicles in Altadena     Thefts from unlocked vehicles have continued in Altadena, it is not an epidemic however it is horrible if your car has items stolen from it. Please make sure that you are remove all valuable items from your vehicle. Most of these crimes could be avoided if everyone locked their car doors and keeps valuables out of sight. Unfortunately it is common to see GPS units, wallets, purses even cash in plain sight inside a vehicle, please help us protect your property. You want to make your car less appealing to the thief, even hiding valuable items under a towel or jacket does not prevent someone from wanting to go inside your vehicle. By far it is best to lock items in your trunk or remove them entirely.  Don’t have the time to wait for a deputy to show up to your house and take a report? Community: Altadena Sheriff's Station Weekly Crime Blotter Sunday, May 14th 10:33 AM – Tywon Johnson, 28 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 2100 block of Raymond Avenue for criminal threats. 12:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3100 block of N. Olive Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by removing the portable window air conditioner.  Loss: unknown. 3:30 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 400 block of W. Marigold Street.  Stolen: black wallet, credit cards and currency. Monday, May 15th 8:10 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Meadowbrook Road.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the window.  Loss: medication. Tuesday, May 16th 11:20 AM – A grand theft occurred in the 2100 block of New York Drive.  Stolen:  red Honda lawnmower, blue weed whacker, red tree trimmer and red chainsaw. 3:00 PM – A residential fire occurred in the 20 block of La Venezia Court.  No injuries reported. 4:00 PM - A grand theft occurred in the 1500 block of N. Grand Oaks Avenue.  Stolen:  gray Honda lawnmower and steel weed trimmer. 7:30 PM - A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1900 block of Oakwood Street.  Stolen: silver iPad. Wednesday, May 17th 7:50 PM – A domestic violence incident occurred in the 2100 block of El Sereno Avenue.  Suspects have been identified. Thursday, May 18th 12:00 AM – Sergio Ledezma, 43 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 800 block of Alameda Street for domestic violence. 2:00 PM – A grand theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 700 block of E. Altadena Drive.  Stolen:  silver Dell laptop, black Swiss Gear backpack and yellow fluke multi-meter. 8:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 1300 block of Valencia Avenue.  Vehicle damage:  windows shattered and vehicle scratched. 8:15 PM - A vehicle burglary occurred in the 600 block of W. Altadena Drive.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the window.  Loss: work ID and gray amplifier. 9:30 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 600 block of Devirian Place.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle via unknown means.  Stolen:  vehicle registration, vehicle manual and brown canvas hat. Friday, May 19th 2:53 PM - A residential burglary occurred in the 2600 block of N. Porter Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the window.  Loss: costume jewelry. 7:00 PM – A battery occurred in the 700 block of Mountain View Street.  Suspect has been identified. Saturday, May 20th 7:30 AM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 500 block of W. Woodbury Road.  Stolen:  Chanel wallet, checkbook, mail, disabled placard and house keys. 10:43 PM – Ronal Cisneros, 30 years old of Ontario was arrested in the 200 block of Crosby Street for public intoxication. 11:48 PM – Kianga Wood, 26 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the 4000 block of Chaney Trail for drunk in public. Memorial Torch Run is this weekend of Friday, May 19th

The annual Memorial Torch Run is this weekend of Friday, May 19^th, through Sunday May 21^th. We are taking possession of the torch on Sunday, May 21^st, at Crescenta Valley Station and transporting it 7.8 miles to Altadena Station. The course is the same as before from CVS to Windsor Ave. We will then travel up Windsor Ave, to Ventura St, curving around to Casitas Ave then north to Altadena Drive and east to the station. This route eliminates Fair Oaks Ave and provides a more participant friendly course. You may run, bike, skate, or rollerblade the entire distance of the leg. As in years past, we will stop at Altadena Drive/Fair Oaks Ave and receive the lit torch which we will carry to the station. Maximum participation along Altadena Drive will be greatly appreciated.

 

Start time at CV is 1405 hours, and we should be arriving at ALD Station around 15:35. After we arrive at the station (upper parking lot), there will be a brief memorial ceremony followed by FREE catered food consisting of tacos (Chicken, Al Pastor, Chorizo, Veggies and Asada, with handmade tortillas) with sides of rice and beans including refreshments. We anticipate serving the food at approximately 1545 hours. The food will be provided by Taco Guy Catering. Memorial T-shirts will also be available for sale at $12 each if you missed the initial purchase order (quantities may be limited).

 

Remember, this is a family event so feel free to bring along family members to enjoy the afternoon. Your participation will be greatly appreciated. We are hoping to have enough department/community participation to line the entire route, but are especially interested in lining Altadena Drive between Fair Oaks and the station with spectators to cheer us on as we deliver the torch to Altadena Station. Altadena Drive.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by punching the door lock.  Stolen:  credit cards and currency. 3:00 PM – A vandalism occurred in the 2600 block of Glenrose Avenue.  Damage:  wall spray painted. 7:45 PM – An attempted theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 400 block of W. Palm Street.  Suspect described as a male, 18 to 20 years old, 6 feet and 180 pounds. 10:00 PM – A vandalism occurred in the 2900 block of El Nido Drive.  Damage:  windows, phones, and light fixtures. Tuesday, May 2nd 9:00 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 300 block of Buena Loma Drive.  Stolen:  black Adidas gym bag, Adidas sweatshirt, sweatpants, brown leather shoes, red pants, black pants and bag containing toiletries. Wednesday, May 3rd 1:44 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3400 block of N. Marengo Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by removing the window screen.  Stolen: rose gold Hamilton watch and titanium Breitling watch. 3:45 PM – Jamaul Harvey, 34 years old of Pasadena and Cesar Barragan, 27 years old of Altadena were arrested in the 2300 block of Pine Crest Drive for vehicle burglary.  Items recovered:  landscaping equipment. 7:24 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Vehicle stolen: silver 1997 Honda Accord 4-door. 8:15 PM – A commercial burglary occurred in the 2900 block of El NidoDrive.  Suspect(s) entered the location via the unsecured window.  Stolen: laptop. Thursday, May 4th 11:00 AM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the window.  Stolen: DJ stabilizer, DJ light, Fovitec lights, and wallet. 11:07 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of W. Harriet Street.  Vehicle stolen: silver 2008 Honda Civic 4-door. 4:21 PM – Alejandro Garcia, 40 years old of Altadena was arrested in the area of Raymond Lane and Sacramento Street for possession of a controlled substance and drinking in public.  Martin Acosta, 44 years old of Altadena was also arrested for drinking in public. 9:45 PM – Tywon Johnson, 28 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 2100 block of N. Raymond Avenue for battery. Friday, May 5th 3:30 PM – A trailer was reported stolen from the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Trailer stolen: 1990 white and orange U-Haul trailer. 5:14 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2900 block of ReposaLane.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the glass door.  Stolen: white gold ring and white gold tennis bracelet. 6:00 PM – Dikran Varikian, 68 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 2100 block of E. Washington Boulevard for domestic violence. 8:00 PM – Malcolm Buchanan, 23 years old of Duarte was arrested in the 3600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue for assault with a deadly weapon. 9:00 PM – A strong arm robbery occurred in the 3000 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Suspect has been identified as a male juvenile. Visitors to JPL during the event -- to be held May 20 and 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- must have their tickets in hand, and anyone age 18 or older must show a matching ID. Tickets are not transferable and cannot be sold. The tickets -- which will be for specific time slots -- will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis online at 9 a.m. PST on Saturday, March 11, at: https://explore.jpl.nasa.gov . The site also has additional information. "A Ticket to Explore JPL" takes visitors through some of the marvels of robotic space exploration. Mount Curve Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the window.  Stolen:  air conditioning knobs. 3:55 PM – A theft of gardening equipment occurred in the 1000 block of Alta Vista Drive.  Stolen:  black Echo leaf blower. Tuesday, April 25th 6:00 PM – A petty theft occurred in the 2900 block of Zane Grey Terrace.  Stolen:  set of keys. Wednesday, April 26th 6:30 PM – David Diaz, 31 years old of Altadena and Brian Garnica, 18 years old of Altadena were arrested in the area of Olive Avenue and Figueroa Drive for drinking in public. Thursday, April 27th 9:30 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 3100 block of Olive Avenue.  Suspect(s) entered the residence via the unsecured front door.  Stolen: currency. Friday, April 28th 6:00 PM – A petty theft occurred in the 2200 block of Lake Avenue.  Suspects described as two males.   Stolen: paintings and blue jeans. Saturday, April 29th 6:06 AM – An assault with a deadly weapon (hands) occurred in the 500 block of W. Altadena Drive.  Investigation is on-going. 7:47 PM – Daniel Ramirez, 39 years old of Altadena was arrested in the area of Raymond Lane and Sacramento Street for possession of a controlled substance. 7:47 PM -   Hector Recarte, 58 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the area of Raymond Lane and Sacramento Street for drinking in public.
