***Crime Prevention Tips***
Distraction Burglaries are occurring throughout the county with many
targeting seniors. As of June 1st, Altadena has received 2 reports of
distraction burglaries – the first incident involved 3 male, Hispanics in
a dark green pickup truck and the second involved a male, Caucasian,
driving a white pickup truck, who claimed to work for a utility company.
Don’t allow strangers into your home, especially if you didn’t schedule
or request any type of service (i.e., utilities, tree trimming, home
inspectors, etc.). Be aware of those inquiring about the neighborhood and
the whereabouts of your neighbors (i.e., are they at work, on vacation,
etc.). Report suspicious activity to the Altadena Sheriff’s station and
attempt to obtain as much information regarding the incident (i.e.,
subject’s description, vehicle make/model, license plate, etc.).
Observant neighbors are essential in keeping neighborhoods safe and
deterring crime. Please get to know your neighbors and share safety
information.
