WINTER HOLIDAY AVOID DUI CAMPAIGN - SATURDAY UPDATE 1 The Winter Holiday DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 100 DUI deployments overnight in Los Angeles County. From 12:01 AM Friday December 13, 2013 through midnight Friday December 13, 2013, officers representing 100 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 172 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2012, 176 DUI arrests occurred during the same 24 hour time period. (**NOTE: These numbers are only provisional with some agencies yet to report for this year**) All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their normal shifts. Multiple DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints, Multi Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols are all part of this region-wide crackdown during the 20 day Winter Holiday Campaign. For tonight, the following DUI enforcement is planned: Saturday, December 14 Checkpoint – Avoid the 100 Multi-agency in the city of Bell Gardens (San Gabriel, Downey, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Montebello, Bell Gardens, Whittier) Checkpoint – Burbank Checkpoint – Glendale Checkpoint – Long Beach Checkpoint – Signal Hill Checkpoint – Whittier Checkpoint – LAPD Van Nuys Area DUI Patrol – Azusa DUI Patrol – Avoid the 100 Multi Agency (El Camino College Police, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Redondo Beach, Torrance) DUI Patrol – Redondo Beach DUI Patrol – CHP West Valley Area DUI Patrol – LAPD Southwest Area Police, Sheriff and the CHP encourage all motorists to help make your community safer: Report Drunk Drivers – Call 911!
