Community: Local hiker passes away on hike.

Last night during hike a local hiker who was instrumental in forming Wednesday night hikes passed away on the Sam Merrill Trail. He was hiking down from Echo Mountain and fell, sadly resulting in his death.
Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived first and determined it was too late for life saving measures. Altadena Mountain Rescue Team responded to and stayed with hiker until the LA County Coroners Office arrived.
All the members of the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team are saddened about the result of this call. Our thoughts and prayers go out family and friends of the hiker.
