Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the
circumstances surrounding the shooting of two LASD deputies. The incident was
reported Saturday, September 12, 2020, at approximately 6:58 p.m., at the MLK
Transit Center in Compton.
A lone gunman ambushed
two of our deputies last night. The suspect approached the vehicle from
behind and fired several rounds from his firearm at the deputies, striking
them. The deputies sustained critical injuries.
The suspect is
described as a male Black 28-30 years-old, wearing dark clothing.
The Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors has authorized a $100,000 reward for information leading
to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

SUSPECT: Male
UNIT: Homicide Bureau – Lieutenant Dean
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating the
ambush shooting of two sheriff’s deputies who were shot multiple times during
an ambush while seated in their patrol vehicle at the Compton Blue Line
Station located at 275 North Willowbrook Avenue in Compton.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the attack, which was captured on
surveillance video, shows the male suspect sneak up to the patrol vehicle
before firing multiple rounds through the front passenger window.
The suspect then ran from the scene.
The suspect has been described as a dark skinned male.
Both deputies were struck multiple times in the upper torso. They were
transported to a local hospital and remain in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available
at this time.
