NARRATIVE:
On Monday, June 8, 2015, investigators from the Los Angeles County
Major Crimes Bureau, Metro Detail, Burglary-Robbery Task Force, were
conducting an ongoing investigation into a suspected residential burglary
“crew”. Detectives believed multiple male and female members of a
Los Angeles area criminal street gang were using rental vehicles while
committing “knock-knock” style residential burglaries throughout Los
Angeles County. At around noon, Major Crimes Bureau investigators saw
two men and two women driving a rental car slowly through an upscale
residential neighborhood in the Pacific Palisades area.
At approximately 12:45 PM, investigators observed Suspect Jarrett
knock on the front door of a residence and peer into the front windows.
Shortly thereafter, Suspect Jarrett and Suspect Fisher jumped over a side
gate into the backyard of the residence. At around 1 PM, both
suspects were observed jumping back out over the same side gate carrying
a bag and items they had not previously had. The rental vehicle
quickly re-appeared in front of the house being driven by Suspect
Caldwell and picked up both Suspect Jarrett and Suspect Fisher.
Investigators also observed Suspect Overstreet, who had rented the
vehicle, seated in the car.
Detectives quickly confirmed that the residence had been ransacked and
burglarized. A short distance away, near the corner of Sunset
Boulevard and Paseo Miramar, Task Force tactical deputies conducted a
traffic stop where all four suspects were detained without
incident. Stolen property (jewelry, watches, and sentimental
heirlooms) from the burglarized home were recovered from inside the car
as well as on the person of Suspect Overstreet. The property
recovered was valued at over $10,000.
All four suspects were arrested and booked at South Los Angeles
Sheriff’s Station for residential burglary and are being held on $50,000
bail each. Bail is expected to be increased based on each suspect’s
criminal street gang affiliations.
Suspect Overstreet was out of custody, on bond, for a recent felony
evasion/vehicle pursuit arrest and has previously been arrested fifteen
times for felony violations including: illegal possession of a firearm,
burglary, and possession of stolen property.
Suspect Jarrett was out of custody on parole for a residential
burglary conviction and has multiple previous felony arrests.
Suspect Caldwell was also out of custody on parole for a residential
burglary conviction and is a three strike candidate. He has been
arrested for over a dozen felony violations including: illegal firearm
possession, burglary, and theft.
Suspect Fisher has numerous previous felony arrests including: murder,
attempted murder, robbery, and burglary.
Citizens are reminded to lock and secure their homes while away, and
quickly report suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighborhood to local
law enforcement.
