Community: Hiker rescued off steep mountain side in Millard Canyon   At 1:20pm Altadena Mountain Rescue Team was called for a hiker stranded on top of a waterfall in Eaton Canyon, in the Angeles National Forest. Rescue crews were not able to reach the stranded hiker via cellphone and crews started searching Eaton Canyon area. After approximately 20 minutes rescue crews were able to make contact with the hiker and it was determined the hiker was in Millard Canyon.  The hiker, 44 y/o male residing in Cerritos was on a return hike from a waterfall when he lost sight of the trail and became stranded on a steep hillside approximately 50' off a trail. Rescue crews set up ropes and lowered a rescuer to the stranded hiker and raise him to safety. The hiker was not injured and was able to hike out on his own. Community: Altadena Sheriff's Station Crime Blotter   Sunday, December 18th 12:01 AM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1300 block of Skywood Circle.  Stolen:  battery charger, charging cords, shoes, vitamins and books. 3:20 AM – Omar Cabrera, 22 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the 3200 block of Dabney Avenue for possession of a controlled substance. 5:00 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Meadowbrook Road.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the window.  Stolen:  burgundy backpack, black Kindle and books. 10:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 200 block of E. Alta Loma Drive.  Vehicle damage: scratches and dents. Monday, December 19th 1:25 PM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Acacia Street.  Vehicle described as a green 1997 Honda Accord.  Vehicle was recovered on 12/20/2016 by LAPD Southwest Division. 8:11 PM – A battery occurred in the 20 block of E. Woodbury Road.  As the victim was walking out of a business the suspect punched the victim in the face for unknown reasons.  Suspect last seen leaving the area in a Dodge Magnum. Tuesday, December 20th 11:00 AM – A grand theft occurred in the in the 1100 block of E. Altadena Drive.  Stolen: diamond ring. 4:30 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2500 block of E. Washington Boulevard.  Suspect(s) entered the residence via unknown means.  Stolen:  currency. 11:15 PM – An assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the area of Mountain View Street and Glenrose Avenue.  Investigation is on-going. Wednesday, December 21st 1:30 PM – Ariel Franko, 25 years old of Sherman Oaks was arrested in the300 block of Ventura Street for identity theft. 2:35 PM – A package theft occurred in the 1500 block of New York Drive.  Suspect described as a female Black, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 3 inches, 130 pounds, wearing a white beanie, black long sleeve shirt with pink short sleeve shirt, red pants, white sneakers and a red blanket.  Stolen: package containing a step ladder and storage boxes. Thursday, December 22nd 2:30 PM – A garage burglary occurred in the 700 block of Neldome Street.  Suspect(s) entered the garage by prying the door frame.  Stolen:  unknown. 4:00 PM – A petty theft from a residence occurred in the 100 block of Figueroa Drive.  Stolen:  ring. 9:00 PM - A petty theft occurred in the 1500 block of Homewood Drive.  Stolen:  vehicle registration and insurance card. 10:00 PM – A petty theft occurred in the 1500 block of Homewood Drive.  Stolen:  golf bag, golf clubs, vehicle keys and house keys. Friday, December 23rd 9:05 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 2800 block of Rubio Canyon Road.  Suspect described as a male White or Hispanic, approximately 35 years, 6 feet, medium build, 190 pounds, black hair with slight graying, and wearing dark clothing.  Suspect entered the residence by shattering the glass door.  No items stolen. Saturday, December 24th 9:50 AM – A vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of Figueroa Drive.  Vehicle was recovered the same day. 9:20 PM – A robbery occurred in the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue.  Suspect described as a male, Black, 6 feet, 170 pounds, wearing a Raider’s beanie, black and gray sweater, and black shorts.  Suspect was armed with a revolver.  Investigation is on-going. Late night fire heavily damages Altadena store.

Community: Late night fire heavily damages Altadena store.   Last night at 11:03 pm a commercial structure fire was reported at Fair Oaks Av. and Woodbury Rd. when LA Co. Fire Department units arrived they saw heavy smoke and fire inside the structure. Fire Department units had to use cutting tools to gain access inside and after fighting the fire for several minutes they were able to search the inside of the store and thankfully no one was inside. At this time the exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Early signs show it does not appear to be suspicious circumstances. Most if not all of the contents of the store had been damaged by fire, smoke and water and was removed from the store by the fire department to ensure the fire would not reignite. Community: Cold weather forecast, protect your pets from the cold.   Pets are happiest and healthiest when kept indoors, especially during extreme cold. Make sure your four-footed family members stay safe and warm during this cold weather, it is a crime not to protect them. Keep your pets inside with you and your family. Under no circumstances should pet cats be left outdoors, even if they roam outside during other seasons. Don't leave pets outdoors when the temperature drops. If your dog is outdoors much of the day for any reason, they must be protected by a dry, draft-free shelter that is large enough to allow them to move comfortably, but small enough to hold in body heat. The floor should be raised a few inches from the ground and covered with cedar shavings or straw. The doorway should be covered with waterproof burlap or heavy plastic. Pets who spend a lot of time outdoors need more food in the winter because keeping warm depletes energy. Routinely check your pet's water dish to make certain the water is fresh and unfrozen. Bundle up, wipe down. No matter what the temperature is, windchill can threaten a pet's life. Exposed skin on noses, ears and paw pads are at risk for frostbite and hypothermia during extreme cold snaps. For this reason, short-haired dogs often feel more comfortable wearing a sweater — even during short walks. Vehicles. Cars are one of many hazards to small animals — warm engines in parked cars attract cats and small wildlife, who may crawl up under the hood. To avoid injuring any hidden animals, bang on your car's hood to scare them away before starting your engine. Horses. Be sure horses have access to a barn or a three-sided run-in so they can escape the wind and cold. While not all horses will need to be blanketed, blankets will help horses keep warm and dry, especially if there is any rain or cold wind. If you’ve body-clipped your horses, keep them blanketed throughout the winter. Speak up. If you encounter a pet left in the cold, politely let the owner know you're concerned. Some people genuinely don’t know the risk that cold weather poses to their pets. Community: Altadena Sheriff's Station Crime Blotter   Sunday, December 4th 12:05 PM – Jose Bolanos, 35 years old of Altadena was arrested in the 2100 block of Summit Avenue for public intoxication. 4:00 PM – Joshua Fisher, 26 years old of Upland was arrested in the 2200 block of Marengo Avenue for assault with a deadly weapon. Monday, December 5th 1:00 PM – A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 3700 block of El Sereno Avenue.  Stolen: black iPhone 7 Plus and black iPhone case. Tuesday, December 6th 7:15 AM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 2500 block of E. Washington Boulevard.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the passenger window.  Stolen:  tan leather purse and a black Michael Kors wallet. Wednesday, December 7th 9:00 AM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Poppyfields Avenue.  Suspect entered the residence via unknown means.  Suspect described as a male Black, 6 feet 1 inch with dreadlocks.  Stolen:  gray HP computer. 8:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 1800 block of N. Sierra Bonita Avenue.  Suspect(s) shattered the rear driver’s side window. Thursday, December 8th 4:30 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 1300 block of Atchison Street.  Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the window.  Stolen: black seat cushion. 6:00 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 1900 block E. Loma Alta Drive.  Suspect(s) entered the residence by shattering the sliding glassdoor.  Stolen:  jewelry. Friday, December 9th 5:00 PM – Pedro Gaona, 42 years old of Pasadena was arrested in the 900 block of Beverly Way for possession of a controlled substance for sales. 7:30 PM – A residential burglary occurred in the 400 block of PunahouStreet.  Suspects described as three male Blacks in a sedan type vehicle. Suspect(s) entered the residence by removing the window screen.  Stolen:  silver watch. Saturday, December 10th 2:00 PM – A vehicle vandalism occurred in the 200 block of W. Update, 210 Freeway is now open!

Advisory: *update* 210 Freeway is open, however eastbound Lave Ave on ramp still closed. Heavy traffic in the area.   *Update* Both east and west 210 freeway is now open, however, the eastbound on ramp at Lake Ave. is still closed.  Heavy traffic remains in Pasadena.   Sheriff's Arson Explosives Team is at the scene with remote robot inspecting the device.  The device was found on the center divider on the eastbound 210 freeway.
